Orion Energy Systems is looking for a Software Engineer to join a tightly knit team that creates superior software for building automation, power metering, and Web-based reporting that supplements our energy-efficient lighting. To date, Orion has saved our customers over 1 billion dollars in energy costs.
We create high-quality software through an Agile process that includes short iterations, unit testing, and mentoring. We use the latest Microsoft technologies, including C# in .NET 4.0, WCF, Silverlight, ASP.NET MVC 3, SQL Server 2008/SQL Azure, and Windows Azure to develop browser-based clients and also target mobile devices such as the iPhone and iPad.
We have a highly adaptive and flexible development environment to complement our Agile development process, using Fogbugz for bug and task tracking, Mercurial + Kiln for source control, and CruiseControl + MSBuild for continuous integration. We use only the best hardware, including high-end i7 laptops with SSD drives and dual external 24” high-resolution monitors, to ensure our team is not limited by the tools they use daily and thus can work as efficiently as possible.
In this role, you’ll be expected to:
Obsessively enjoy solving problems
Create features that work efficiently and reliably
Write code that is well structured, unit tested, and maintainable
Work closely with other team members to ensure the success of the team
Consistently estimate time to develop new features
Never stop learning and improving yourself, including reading books, listening to development podcasts, and reading blogs
Be proactive and provide suggestions for improvements that add value to our products
Job Requirements (in order of importance):
1. Quick, self-starting learner
2. Development experience — minimally as a hobby, preferably real-world experience
3. Minimum of an associate’s degree in Information Systems or other related technical discipline
This is a full-time position in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Pay is based on the individual, is above average for the industry, but requires an above average, talented, and driven developer.
