Orion Energy Systems

Orion Energy Systems is looking for a Software Engineer to join a tightly knit team that creates superior software for building automation, power metering, and Web-based reporting that supplements our energy-efficient lighting. To date, Orion has saved our customers over 1 billion dollars in energy costs.

We create high-quality software through an Agile process that includes short iterations, unit testing, and mentoring. We use the latest Microsoft technologies, including C# in .NET 4.0, WCF, Silverlight, ASP.NET MVC 3, SQL Server 2008/SQL Azure, and Windows Azure to develop browser-based clients and also target mobile devices such as the iPhone and iPad.

We have a highly adaptive and flexible development environment to complement our Agile development process, using Fogbugz for bug and task tracking, Mercurial + Kiln for source control, and CruiseControl + MSBuild for continuous integration. We use only the best hardware, including high-end i7 laptops with SSD drives and dual external 24” high-resolution monitors, to ensure our team is not limited by the tools they use daily and thus can work as efficiently as possible.

In this role, you’ll be expected to:

 Obsessively enjoy solving problems

 Create features that work efficiently and reliably

 Write code that is well structured, unit tested, and maintainable

 Work closely with other team members to ensure the success of the team

 Consistently estimate time to develop new features

 Never stop learning and improving yourself, including reading books, listening to development podcasts, and reading blogs

 Be proactive and provide suggestions for improvements that add value to our products

Job Requirements (in order of importance):

1. Quick, self-starting learner

2. Development experience — minimally as a hobby, preferably real-world experience

3. Minimum of an associate’s degree in Information Systems or other related technical discipline
