Bio Edward Chaltry a Partner and CTO for Centare Group Ltd., a Brookfield WI based software consultancy. Ed brings 20 years of software development experience with strong interest and expertise in Agile techniques and application architecture . Ed also holds certifications in multiple technologies including MOSS 2007, Certified Scrum Master, Java, and is an IBM Certified Instructor.
As CTO, Ed spearheads Centare’s initiatives to research and utilize new software tools and technology solutions. This knowledge helps ensure Centare consultants are in tune with leading innovations and receive the training necessary to maintain a high competency in when working with new applications and technologies.
Overview On November 19th, 2007, Microsoft released a slew of cool new products for developers. These products included Visual Studio 2008, Visual Studio Team System 2008, and Visual Studio Team Foundation Server 2008. Bio Mark Johnson is a Senior Consultant with Fujitsu Consulting with 12 years of experience in Microsoft development technologies, 9 years in the Fox Valley. Mark’s current role is Application Architect in ASP.Net web applications.
Overview Entity Framework is Microsoft’s latest technology targeted at simplifying application development by reducing the impedance mismatch between in-code data models and relational data models. It’s a basic Object-Relational mapping technology that we’ll explore by comparing it to a standard 3-tier architecture using ADO DataSets as the Data Access Object. We’ll also look briefly at LINQ, a set of extensions bringing query capability into native .Net languages, as an enabling technology to further abstract the connection between application data and database persistence.

The session will spark discussion around the architecture of WCF, the essentials of WCF security, and how to implement security on a WCF service.
